This cracking Rueda is produced and bottled under the name Montecillo Singladuras (Voyages) and is part of Montecillo’s growing ambition as a producer of wines that perfectly represent their provenance, wherever that might be.
In this case we have a classic portrayal of Verdejo from vines surrounding the towns of Rueda and La Seca grown on typical gravely soils. Cold maceration on the skins, light pressing, cool fermentation in stainless steel followed by battonage on the lees for enhanced complexity and structure. Notes of melon, citrus and hay with floral touches on the nose; medium-bodied, fresh, silky and lively in the mouth.
