Dark, juicy and fresh with serious concentration, this really outclasses and confounds the vast majority of Joven wines from Rioja. Let's be honest, there's a lot of fairly unimpressive Rioja sloshing about under a tenner and we might be better off without (quite a lot of) it as it really does the region no great favours. This, on the other hand, is a marker for quality. With bags of fruit unhindered by even the vaguest suggestion of oak, presented in a really well integrated style with good structure, bursting with ripe red fruit character from partial whole bunch maceration, it's a winner.
