La Rangée du Curé (the row of the priest) is the entry point to Sébastien Dauliac's small but perfectly formed hilltop village winery. From vines grown on ferrous rich sidèrolithique soils, and only the most sparing and judicious use of oak, the emphasis here is on the fruit, and the very tangible specificity of the terroir. The nose is fresh and farmy with lots of primary dark fruits and dried flowers, the colour is very dark, the mouthfeel is fine and precise with firm but sleek tannins and delicious acidity. For us at least, this has to be the way forward for Cahors, a real eye-opener.
