To be perfectly honest, we had serious doubts about Argentine Pinot Noir until fairly recently. With the exception of a handful of frankly outstanding examples in Patagionia, Rio Negro specifically, most of what we had tasted had either been dark and jammy or light and wishy-washy. Trust Susana Balbo to shine a light!
Ever the innovator, this Pinot Noir is grown in Alto Agrelo and is co-fermented with 5% Viognier grapes, which adds something quite difficult to describe... freshness, complexity? These things and more. This is a great wine and price-wise it sits very nicely on the shelf. We are sure this Pinot points the way towards even greater things in future.
