A soft, succulent, well-rounded Pinot from Atamisque this time, with a well observed use of 2nd and 3rd use French oak barrels for just enough time to round off the edges. Quite dark in colour but unmistakably Pinot in appearance, likewise on the nose with fairly classic aromas of wild strawberries and a subtle touch of sweet-spice / farmyard. This is the famous Burgundy 777 clone, grafted onto 20 year old vines formerly grown for sparkling wine production. Whatever, it works!
"The Catalpa Pinot Noir is made entirely from the Burgundian 777 clone and is aged in second use oak. Pale in colour, but not short of perfume or flavour intensity, it's subtle, complex, and refined, unfurling raspberry and tomato leaf flavours."
