NEW! Trez Malbec Reserva 2007

The grapes are grown in Agrelo in Luján do Cuyo, often regarded as the original and best source for ‘classic’ Malbec, at around 1,100 metres above sea level. This is a limited production wine, 33% of which was aged in new French (Taransaud) oak with a further 33% aged in one year old barrels from the same area of France; released after 14 months’ maturation in oak. In appearance the wine is typically dark, almost opaque, with lovely violet glints. The nose is powerful and redolent of black cherry, sour cherry, plums and licorice, with nice smoky oak notes from the wood. It’s a big, succulent beast on the palate, displaying fabulous structure and balance and delicious black fruit character. Though drinking wonderfully now, this will age handsomely for at least another eight years for those who have the patience.
