Benegas-Lynch Cabernet Franc 2006
You won’t see this every day. From vineyards over 100 years old Federico has crafted something truly unique. Dare we go as far as suggesting that the Bordelais would be rather proud (envious?) of this wine. An outstanding example of this varietal; profound ruby red with scents of fresh mint and chocolate, smooth in the mouth with mature fruits and velvety tannins leading on to a long, cool finish. Très bien, Señor Benegas!
"Fresh nose and then Andean sunshine ripens the whole thing up to a notch above any Cab Franc that has so far come my way. Freshness and real minerality on the finish. In fact it reminds me even more of a good Bierzo than any Cab Franc I can think of. Mencía connection... Very clean and refreshing."
17.5 / 20, Jancis Robinson's Purple Pages, July 2009 (2005 vintage)
“Dark ruby coloured, it reveals an impressive bouquet… cinnamon, clove and all spice… full-flavoured with notes of cassis and blackcurrant emerging… built for the long term…”
90 Points, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, December 2008 (2005 vintage)
“Well structured with oak still needing to blend in. Great presence and length, with a stony finish.”
Stephen Spurrier, Decanter magazine, May 2009 (2005 vintage)
