DEUMAYEN, ALTO AGRELO, LUJÁN DE CUYO, MENDOZA
One doesn’t have to be a multi-lingual genius to appreciate that Trez means three; and in the case of Bodegas Deumayen, whose one and only wine is called Trez Malbec, the trez in question are three old friends – Esteban Zombory, Roberto Timms and Jorge Ramírez – who have harboured a dream for many years to create a wine that expresses their love for Mendoza and their thirst for a challenge. There is, however, a significant other in this story… non other than winemaker extraordinaire Roberto de la Mota, who has helped in no small measure to bring this dream to fruition. Roberto acts as consultant to the project and advises winemaker Pablo Cúneo in the aim of creating a true benchmark for Mendoza Malbec. 2007 was the first vintage for these guys and the wine is a triumph. We await future releases with eager anticipation.
