BENEGAS, LUJÁN DE CUYO, MENDOZA
Bodegas Benegas is presided over by proud owner and winemaker Federico Benegas Lynch and his wife and business partner, Carmen Burone. Under Federico’s patronage, the property is enjoying the complete rejuvenation of an old family tradition: it was Federico’s great-grandfather, Tiburcio, who brought the first French vines to Argentina. Following an extremely successful business career, Federico took back the reigns at this traditional property in 1998 and set about realising a vision that would put the name Benegas firmly back in the hearts and minds of wine lovers at home and abroad.
Bodega Benegas and its 40 hectares of vineyards, known as Finca Libertad, forms part of the “lecho” riverbed of Mendoza, where former riverbed soils offer scant fertility and are made up mainly of pebbles and gravel; where the vines are exposed to extreme conditions including a high thermal amplitude (the difference between day and night temperatures) – perfect for low yields of very highly concentrated fruit.
“Benegas wines have a strong personality which is the result of a unique terroir and the combination of French and Argentine traditions. Benegas wines are a reflection of Federico Benegas Lynch’s passion and his constant search for excellence.”
Michel Rolland
